The first poem, Treva de gener [January Truce], is intended as a joyful hymn to the end of the Vietnam war, with its tragic record number of deaths. This piece was originally commissioned for a recital based on the work of Maria Àngels Anglada (Persistència). This initial experience led to the other two poems being set to music. D’infants a infants [From Infants to Infants] is a simple melody with simple harmonies, like a popular song that could be sung by a children’s choir. The choice of this second poem acts as a counterweight to the atmosphere left by the first. Les fonts [The Fountains] is like a festive dance, clearly influenced by the traditions of Bulgarian choirs in its rythmic complexity. The link between the three poems is the world of childhood.
The first performance was in Vic in November 2007 by the Coral Canigó, conducted by Xavier Solà.
