This work you are reading was written in 2007, originally for dolçaina and piano, and was premiered by schawm player Pau Puig on April the 1st 2008 at Sala Tete Montoliu in L’Auditori (Barcelona). The piano part is written in B minor and the dolçaina part (written a downward 5th from the actual pitch), in E minor. Later, Jordi Vilaró, soprano shawm teacher in ESMUC, asked me for a soprano shawm version, which I did leaving the piano part as it was and bringing the soprano shawm part (which is written a downward 4th from the actual pitch) to F# minor. Next, Dani Carbonell, a gralla teacher in ESMUC, asked me for the gralla and piano version. This time, I transposed the whole piece to A minor, for gralla in C, and to G minor for gralla in Bb. This piece has the structure of a classic rondo - A-B-A-C-A - with an apex at the end of part C. My only idea in writing this piece was to add to the repertoire of traditional music instruments. I hope it will
be useful both for students and as a concert piece for professionals.
