The Composition Prize for Piano Dolors Calvet Prats was created : (1) to recognize the task of this composer and pedagogue who was born in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona) and died in Madrid; (2) to stimulate the creation of new repertoire for piano pedagody. This was the goal when VINSEUM, Museum of Wine’s Cultures of Catalonia, Ajuntament de Vilafranca del Penedès and Dolors Calvet’s family signed the agreement. The First Contest of Composition Prize for Piano Dolors Calvet Prats was summoned in 2007 and awarded in 2008. The jury was composed by Josep Soler Sardà (President), Francesc Taverna Bech, and by the pianists Diego Fernández Magdaleno and Montserrat Rios Rallé. 10 works were presented in its first edition and the winner was “Escenes per a Piano”, which was presented under the pseudonym “Garnica” for Octavi Rumbau Masgrau. Two more works were selected because of their interest and together with the winning works were integrated to VINSEUM’s Musical Archive: “Records de Provença. Petita suite per a piano” and “Un tríptic, os díptics, tres íptics”, whose authors are: Marian Márquez Ruis de Gopegui and Josep Bracons Palace, respectively.
