The manuscript of the Mass that we are now publishing is preserved in the Biblioteca de Catalunya, M.689/11, in a handwritten manuscript in the form of a draft version, and one of the individual parts ' the accompaniment part (Pars Organii) ' is preserved at Girona Cathedral. The full title of the work is MISSA A 7 DE JOSEPH GAS. DEDICADA A LA REYNA DELS ANGELS MARIA SANTISSIMA SEÑORA NOSTRA. It almost certainly dates from the last decade of the seventeenth century. The accompaniment part, which was copied out later, is written transposed down a fourth with respect to the full score, i.e. into the actual key used for singing the work, as was the practice at the time. This latter key is thus the one taken for this present edition. The work is divided up in line with the Ordinary of the Mass: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei, with two choirs as organum, one in three voices and the other in four, plus the continuo.Technical Specifications
