A round of songsOur group Telstar-33 was formed in 1963, with members Àngel Fabregues, Arseni Sallent, Miquel Raventós and Jaume Arnella; we were very young and very keen at the time, and we wanted to make a pile of songbooks available to everyone so that everyone could sing the songs in them. We produced a lot ' using the small backpack format typified in the 'Esplai' (recreation) collection ' and people were fighting over them, since they were all dying to sing. I think we succeeded ' along with many other people, naturally ' in creating a common repertoire: you knew that if, for example, you were on a train going from Manresa to Berga, a string of songs would be sung, and you would know them all. I remember how we were helped in that work by Oriol Martorell, Enric Gispert and others.
Some of those songs were recently re-recorded, and lots of people were asking how to get hold of the words, the music and the guitar chords. Since the old song books were all out of print, we decided to dust them off a bit, bringing them back into use for people. This compilation is the result of merging the two volumes of the 'Ronda de cançons' (Round of songs) 'the first and second volumes.
May this also serve in remembrance of Àngel Fàbregues, who would have been delighted to have seen this new edition. And now, sing the songs presented, with satisfaction and with delicacy ' remember that they are songs that once moved, and still move, different generations.
