Antonio Velasco Polonio
Born in Hospitalet de Llobregat in 1964. Trained as guitarist with Yoshimi Otani, José Luis Lopategui and Manuel González. Composition studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Barcelona with Carles Guinovartand Albert Llanas. Further studies during a year in London with the composers David Matthews and Michael Finnissy and in Barcelona with David Padrós. He has also attended to composition courses with Lleonard Balada, José Manuel López López , Manuel Hidalgo and Helmut Lachenmann.
Trained as choir conductor at the Audicor courses, the Catalana Federation of Choral Associations courses and at Camford Summer School of Music.
Author of many choral works. Awarded with de Carlos III University of Madrid price for choir music. Collaborations with BARCANOVA publishers in writing students music books. Works for children choir comissioned and published by the Catalan Association of Children Choirs (SCIC).
Works played in Spain and USA by the Pittsburgh Contemporary Ensemble, Sphera Ensemble, Ars Rei Choralis choir, Ariadna Choir and others in Spain and USA. Works played at Radio 2 (Spain Broadcast Corporation) and Radio 4 (Catalonia Broadcast Corporation ).
