<br/> The pianist and Composer Leonora Milà was born in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona, 1942) in a family with a strong bonding with music, as her father, Josep Milà, was an outstanding cellist of the Pau Casals Orchestra and, as well, of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Orchestra in Barcelona. As a pupil of the pedagogue Maria Canals, Leonora Milà was considered a “child prodigy” after giving two concerts in 1949 at the Palau de la Música Catalana, where she performed, at the age of only six years, own works and W. A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto KV 488 with the Barcelona Orchestra.<br />
<br/> The Catalan artist’s international career began at age twelve, when she performed in a London BBC program, playing works for piano by Enric Granados and Manuel de Falla. This performance opened her the doors of the British capital, to which she returned a year later, in 1955, for a performance at the Royal Albert Hall with Noches en los Jardines de España, by the composer Manuel de Falla, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the conduction of Rudolph Dunbar.<br />
<br/> As a winner of the Concurs Internacional d’Execució Musical Maria Canals (Barcelona) 1996 and finalist of the Concorso Internazionale di Musica G. B. Viotti (Vercelli, Italy), Leonora Milà has combined the composing and the performing aspect along her professional career. Extensive tours throughout Europe, the USA and Asia made her become the first Spanish artist who performed in the Republic of China (1979), where she recorded a disk with the China National Symphony Orchestra (1988), as well as the first composer who premiered a ballet in St. Petersburg. It’s about Tirant lo Blanc, a novel about knights and knighthood written by Joanot Martorell in the XVth century, which Leonorà Milà set to music and the Russian dancer and choreographer Iuri Petukhov choreographed to a ballet with two hours of duration. For this work, Milà won the Premi Internacional de la Cultura Catalana [International Prize for Catalan Culture] that she was awarded in Valencia in 1995. Subsequently, Tirant lo Blanc was premiered at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, in 1996, with the St. Petersburg State Ballet. The cinema director Antoni Ribas was in charge of filming this ballet, which was broadcasted on Spanish television and edited as a DVD for its commercialization.<br />
<br/> Leonora Milà’s three concerts for piano and orchestra, the successful piano habaneras CD, the songs for voice and piano on texts by poets such as J. W. von Goethe, Salvador Espriu and Joan Maragall, and two short ballets called Pintor Lee and Drame a Trois, recorded by the St Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra of Mussorgsky Theatre excel amongst this artist’s extensive oeuvre, that includes more than a hundred compositions.<br />
<br/> Leonora Milà has more than thirty published CDs, both in recital and with internationally renowned orchestras, with a repertoire based on works by great European composers such as Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn. Her version of Das Wohltemperierte Klavier by J. S. Bach is outstanding and has been considered as a referee by the critics. Her performances of the works by the classical Spanish composers Manuel de Falla, Enric Granados, Isaac Albéniz and Joaquín Turina received the unanimous acknowledgement of the audience. The works by Leonora Milà are published and distributed by International Music Company, New York, amongst others.<br />

Located in the very heart of the old town of Barcelona, DINSIC Publicacions Musicals, SL was found in 1988 by Francesca Galofré Mora as a response to her great pedagogical vocation and with the aim of disseminating knowledge and musical production.<br />

Today, with more than twenty years of constant work, the publishing company devotes itself to promoting the publication of several books and materials destined to musical education in all its fields: music schools and conservatories, school in all its levels and university.<br />

<br/> The pianist and Composer Leonora Milà was born in Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona, 1942) in a family with a strong bonding with music, as her father, Josep Milà, was an outstanding cellist of the Pau Casals Orchestra and, as well, of the Gran Teatre del Liceu Orchestra in Barcelona. As a pupil of the pedagogue Maria Canals, Leonora Milà was considered a “child prodigy” after giving two concerts in 1949 at the Palau de la Música Catalana, where she performed, at the age of only six years, own works and W. A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto KV 488 with the Barcelona Orchestra.<br />
<br/> The Catalan artist’s international career began at age twelve, when she performed in a London BBC program, playing works for piano by Enric Granados and Manuel de Falla. This performance opened her the doors of the British capital, to which she returned a year later, in 1955, for a performance at the Royal Albert Hall with Noches en los Jardines de España, by the composer Manuel de Falla, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the conduction of Rudolph Dunbar.<br />
<br/> As a winner of the Concurs Internacional d’Execució Musical Maria Canals (Barcelona) 1996 and finalist of the Concorso Internazionale di Musica G. B. Viotti (Vercelli, Italy), Leonora Milà has combined the composing and the performing aspect along her professional career. Extensive tours throughout Europe, the USA and Asia made her become the first Spanish artist who performed in the Republic of China (1979), where she recorded a disk with the China National Symphony Orchestra (1988), as well as the first composer who premiered a ballet in St. Petersburg. It’s about Tirant lo Blanc, a novel about knights and knighthood written by Joanot Martorell in the XVth century, which Leonorà Milà set to music and the Russian dancer and choreographer Iuri Petukhov choreographed to a ballet with two hours of duration. For this work, Milà won the Premi Internacional de la Cultura Catalana [International Prize for Catalan Culture] that she was awarded in Valencia in 1995. Subsequently, Tirant lo Blanc was premiered at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, in 1996, with the St. Petersburg State Ballet. The cinema director Antoni Ribas was in charge of filming this ballet, which was broadcasted on Spanish television and edited as a DVD for its commercialization.<br />
<br/> Leonora Milà’s three concerts for piano and orchestra, the successful piano habaneras CD, the songs for voice and piano on texts by poets such as J. W. von Goethe, Salvador Espriu and Joan Maragall, and two short ballets called Pintor Lee and Drame a Trois, recorded by the St Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra of Mussorgsky Theatre excel amongst this artist’s extensive oeuvre, that includes more than a hundred compositions.<br />
<br/> Leonora Milà has more than thirty published CDs, both in recital and with internationally renowned orchestras, with a repertoire based on works by great European composers such as Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn. Her version of Das Wohltemperierte Klavier by J. S. Bach is outstanding and has been considered as a referee by the critics. Her performances of the works by the classical Spanish composers Manuel de Falla, Enric Granados, Isaac Albéniz and Joaquín Turina received the unanimous acknowledgement of the audience. The works by Leonora Milà are published and distributed by International Music Company, New York, amongst others.<br />

As a pupil of the pedagogue Maria Canals, Leonora Milà was considered a “child prodigy” after giving two concerts in 1949 at the Palau de la Música Catalana, where she performed, at the age of only six years, own works and W. A. Mozart’s Piano Concerto KV 488 with the Barcelona Orchestra. The Catalan artist’s international career began at age twelve, when she performed in a London BBC program, playing works for piano by Enric Granados and Manuel de Falla. This performance opened her the doors of the British capital, to which she returned a year later, in 1955, for a performance at the Royal Albert Hall with Noches en los Jardines de España, by the composer Manuel de Falla, with the London Philharmonic Orchestra under the conduction of Rudolph Dunbar. As a winner of the Concurs Internacional d’Execució Musical Maria Canals (Barcelona) 1996 and finalist of the Concorso Internazionale di Musica G. B. Viotti (Vercelli, Italy), Leonora Milà has combined the composing and the performing aspect along her professional career. Extensive tours throughout Europe, the USA and Asia made her become the first Spanish artist who performed in the Republic of China (1979), where she recorded a disk with the China National Symphony Orchestra (1988), as well as the first composer who premiered a ballet in St. Petersburg. It’s about Tirant lo Blanc, a novel about knights and knighthood written by Joanot Martorell in the XVth century, which Leonorà Milà set to music and the Russian dancer and choreographer Iuri Petukhov choreographed to a ballet with two hours of duration. For this work, Milà won the Premi Internacional de la Cultura Catalana [International Prize for Catalan Culture] that she was awarded in Valencia in 1995. Subsequently, Tirant lo Blanc was premiered at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, in 1996, with the St. Petersburg State Ballet. The cinema director Antoni Ribas was in charge of filming this ballet, which was broadcasted on Spanish television and edited as a DVD for its commercialization. Leonora Milà’s three concerts for piano and orchestra, the successful piano habaneras CD, the songs for voice and piano on texts by poets such as J. W. von Goethe, Salvador Espriu and Joan Maragall, and two short ballets called Pintor Lee and Drame a Trois, recorded by the St Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra of Mussorgsky Theatre excel amongst this artist’s extensive oeuvre, that includes more than a hundred compositions. Leonora Milà has more than thirty published CDs, both in recital and with internationally renowned orchestras, with a repertoire based on works by great European composers such as Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann and Felix Mendelssohn. Her version of Das Wohltemperierte Klavier by J. S. Bach is outstanding and has been considered as a referee by the critics. La pianista i compositora Leonora Milà va néixer a Vilanova i la Geltrú (Barcelona, 1942) en una família amb forts vincles en el món de la música, ja que el seu pare, Josep Milà, va ser un destacat violoncel•lista de l’Orquestra Pau Casals i, també, de l’Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona. Deixebla de la pedagoga Maria Canals, Leonora Milà rep el qualificatiu de “nena prodigi” gràcies als dos concerts que el 1949 ofereix al Palau de la Música Catalana interpretant, amb només sis anys, obra pròpia i el concert per a piano i orquestra KV 488 de W. A. Mozart acompanyada per l’Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona.<br />
La carrera internacional de l’artista catalana s’inicia als dotze anys quan actua en un programa de la BBC de Londres interpretant peces per a piano d’Enric Granados i Manuel de Falla. Aquesta actuació li obre les portes de la capital britànica on hi torna un any més tard, el 1955, per actuar al Royal Albert Hall interpretant l’obra Noches en los jardines de España, del compositor Manuel de Falla, amb la London Philharmonic Orchestra i sota la batuta de Rudolph Dunbar.<br />
Guanyadora del Concurs Internacional d’Execució Musical Maria Canals (Barcelona) de 1966 i finalista del Concorso Internazionale di Musica G. B. Viotti (Vercelli, Itàlia), Leonora Milà compagina al llarg de la seva carrera professional la vessant d’intèrpret amb la de compositora. Llargues gires per Europa, Estats Units i Àsia l’han portat a ser la primera artista espanyola que actua a la República Popular de la Xina (1979), en gravar un disc amb la China National Symphony Orchestra (1988) i en ser també la primera compositora que estrena un ballet a Sant Petersburg. Es tracta de Tirant lo Blanc, una novel•la de cavalleries escrita per Joanot Martorell al segle XV que Leonora Milà transforma en partitura i el ballarí i coreògraf rus Iuri Petukhov en un ballet de dues hores. Per a aquesta obra Milà rep el Premi Internacional de la Cultura Catalana concedit a València el 1995. Posteriorment, Tirant lo Blanc s’estrena al Gran Teatre del Liceu, el 1996, amb la companyia Sant Petersburg State Ballet. El director de cinema Antoni Ribas és l’encarregat de filmar aquest ballet que s’emet per Televisió Espanyola i s’edita també en format DVD per a la seva comercialització. <br />
D’entre l’extensa obra escrita per Leonora Milà, formada per més de 100 partitures, destaquen els seus tres concerts per a piano i orquestra, l’exitós cd d’havaneres per a piano, les cançons per a veu i piano basades en textos de poetes com J. W. Goethe, Salvador Espriu i Joan Maragall, i dos ballets breus titulats Pintor Lee i Drame a trois gravats per la Sant Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra of Mussorgsky Theatre.<br />
Leonora Milà té més d’una trentena de discos publicats, ja sigui com a solista o acompanyada d’orquestres de renom internacional, amb un repertori basat en obres de grans compositors europeus, com ara Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Ludwig van Beethoven, Robert Schumann i Felix Mendelssohn. Destaca la seva versió de l’obra Das Wohltemperierte Klavier, de J. S. Bach, que la crítica especialitzada considera “de referència”, i les interpretacions al piano dels compositors clàssics espanyols Manuel de Falla, Enric Granados, Isaac Albéniz i Joaquín Turina que li han valgut el reconeixement unànime del públic. Les obres de Leonora Milà estan editades i distribuïdes per International Music Company, de New York, entre d’altres.<br />
