The treatyVersuch einer Anweisung die Flöte traversiere zu spielen
(Berlin, 1752) by Johann Joachim Quantz (Oberscheden, 1697 - Potsdam, 1773) is one of the sources which illustrate the theoretical and practical frame of musical interpretation of the first half of the xviiith century in Europe. This important treaty 'which is an obliged lecture of many music universities and high schools' is an essential and permanent reference work for scientists. The translation of this treaty into Catalan means a great advance for performers and scientists and facilitates and enriches Catalan musical terminology by translating and putting into context a great number of terms and expressions belonging to the XVIIIth century, which already had a full validity in that time.
